Compatible Hardware List/ Minimum System Requirements

Recommended Computer Specs:

  • Windows 10 or newer  (For non-Windows OS, see below)
  • Modern Dual or Quad-core 2GHz Processors or faster
  • Keyboard and Mouse or some other compatible pointing device
  • Video adapter and monitor with SVGA (1024 x 768) or higher
  • Audio Playback Capability for sound notifications
  • Internet access for database backup
  • 4 USB ports(an USB hub may be required depending on how many devices you need)

MacOS, Chromebook, Android etc.

Regarding hardware compatibility, webcams and scanners will work, however the Client Agent for printing is only compatible under Windows. If you are using a non-Windows device, It is recommended that you connect your printers to a Windows computer and set up Remote Printing so that the non-Windows device can send remote print jobs to the Windows machine.

Important notes

  • Ensure that only one Windows user account is used for VM.  The check-in station works in such a way that data is saved in browser cache.  This cache does not travel between Windows user accounts and thus the check-in station will not exist on any other Windows user account. If your district’s policy requires everyone to log into one machine under multiple domain accounts, we suggest you use our Remote Links feature.
  • Be aware of the result of deleting browser cache.  If you have a station that has our offline support enabled and the browser cache is cleared, the station is reset and would need to be set up again.  We recommend not clearing the browser cache or if it is absolutely necessary, that you know how to replace your station.
  • The Visitor Management software has 2 modes that it can be in, Kiosk Mode and Admin Mode. Depending on where the machine is located will determine which mode you should keep your station in. If the machine is out where everyone has physical access to the station, keeping it in Admin Mode is a security risk because it allows free access to the settings, in that case it is recommended that you leave it in Kiosk Mode.

Recommended Configuration

We recommend having at least 1 station with 2 printers connected(1 printer for visitor labels and another for tardy passes), a webcam for capturing the visitors photo, and an ID scanner which can allow the system to run our Sex Offender Check process, scan student ID’s, and can also be used with our Enhanced Visitor Management feature. Depending on your hardware configuration, you may also need an USB hub. If you require a second station, you can configure it to send remote print jobs to the main station through our Remote Printing feature.

Below is a list of compatible printer and scanner models, along with compatible label sizes our software supports.

Customers may purchase hardware from CENTEGIX upon their initial deployment of CENTEGIX Visitor Management including printers, scanners and an initial supply for labels and thermal paper, but will need to source computers, webcams, USB hubs and additional printing supplies on their own. After the implementation process has been completed, customers will need to source these supplies from 3rd party vendors.

Compatible Printers:

  • Centegix/L3 Thermal Printer (Can use a 1/2 inch or 1 inch label core)
  • IDPRT SP310 Thermal Printer (Can use a 1/2 inch or 1 inch label core)
  • HPRT LPQ80 Thermal Printer (Can use a 1/2 inch or 1 inch label core)
  • DYMO 400/450 Series Single Thermal Printer (Requires a 1 inch label core)
  • DYMO 400/450 Series Twin Turbo Thermal Printer (Requires a 1 inch label core)
  • DYMO 500 Series – Compatible only if also using DYMO brand standard labels.
  • Self cutting Epson TM-T20111 Thermal Printer for Tardy and Early Release slips ONLY (requires 1/2 inch and 1 inch core)  This printer will not work with visitor labels

Compatible Labels:

There are two sizes for visitor labels that are compatible: 2 1/4-in. x 4-in and 2 5/16-in x 4-in. Make sure to take note of which core size is compatible with your printer model.

Compatible Thermal Tape (Tardy Passes):

The link below is for thermal tape for the CENTEGIX/L3 printer only. If you have a DYMO or a Bixolon printer, these labels will not fit due to the size of the core of the roll. DYMO and Bixolon printers require a one-inch core. The L3 printer requires either a 1/2-inch core or a 1-inch core. Make sure the rolls you purchase have the correct core size. Thermal tape should have a width of either 2 1/4-in. or 2 5/16-in. Any length is acceptable, but most common are 200 and 300 ft.

If the options in these links are not what you’re looking for, or if you are not able to purchase from Amazon, we recommend that you contact an office supply store and give them the dimensions listed above and they will be able to assist you with finding print media.

Compatible Scanners:

  • Motorola/Zebra/Symbol model DS9208 Optical Scanner (Calibration required)
  • Opticon model NLV4001 Optical Scanner (Calibration required, only works with 1D barcodes, will not scan drivers licenses)
  • Newland model NLS-FR40 Optical Scanner (Calibration required)

JiffyPass(RFID) Reader and Keyfob Requirements:

In order for a JiffyPass reader to work with visitor management, it must be configured to one of the following frequencies:

  • Standard Frequency – 125 khz with compatible 125 khz keyfobs (This is our legacy JiffyPass reader and fobs: generally more cost-effective; 26 character limit)
  • High Frequency – 13.56 Mhz with compatible 13.56 Mhz keyfobs (26 character limit)

If a writable JiffyPass reader is purchased, the keyfobs cannot contain an ID number greater than 26 characters long.
