Brother QL Printer Setup Guide

This guide walks you through setting up your Brother QL printer on a Visitor Management System (VMS) client station.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure the following: 

  • The Brother QL printer is physically connected to the client station (usually via USB or a network connection, depending on your model) and is powered on. 
  • The necessary Brother printer drivers are installed. 
  • The Client Agent is installed. 
  • Paper type: DK-1202 Shipping Label (2.4 in x 3.9 in) is required.

Step-by-Step Configuration 

Follow these steps within your VMS interface to add the printer. 

  1. Access Device Settings:
    1. Go to the Client Station.
    2. Click the hamburger menu in the top-left corner.
    3. Select Settings.
    4. Choose Devices.
    5. Click Add New Device.
  2. Select the Device Type:
    1. Select Generic Printer from the list of device types.
  3. Specify Printer Model:
    1. Under the drop-down for Printer Model, select Brother QL Series.
  4. Complete and Save.
    1. Review and ensure all other fields (e.g., Printer, Paper, Client Agent) are correctly populated per your requirements. 
    2. Once everything is configured, click Save and run a test print.

Tip: “Client Agent” should automatically populate with the value “Local Host”.
