Gemalto/Thales Scanner Setup

The Gemalto CR5400 and Thales QS2000 scanners can be used to scan driver licenses by taking a picture of the license, rather than parsing the data through the PDF417 barcode.

Before starting, you will need to install v1.4.0 of the Client Agent, which can be found here

You will also need the driver for the scanner, which can be found here

Once these have been installed, navigate to the device settings by clicking on the 3 lines at the top left-hand corner of the check-in/out screen, then click on Settings. If you do not see Settings, you’ll need to click on Switch to Admin Mode and then log in with admin credentials. Once there, you should see Settings.

Within Settings, click on Devices at the top of the page, then click Add New Device, and scroll down to choose the scanner.

  1. Enter a name for your scanner(optional)
  2. From the Client Agent dropdown, select Local Host.
  3. From the Scanning Mode dropdown, select the desired scanning mode. There are two options:
    1. Driver License: Only captures name, state and birthdate.
    2. Driver License with Profile Photo: Captures name, state, birthdate, and photo. Selecting this mode will bypass the capture of a webcam image if it is enabled within the configuration unless the scan of the ID fails to correctly capture the picture from the ID.
  4. After clicking Save, you can test the scanner by inserting a driver's license in any direction into the scanner and clicking the Scan Driver's License button in the Test Scanner area.

Now with the scanner added to the Devices menu, you will need to configure your badge settings to use the device.

Click on the 3 lines at the top left hand corner and choose Settings again, then choose Badge Settings. From here, we need to map the scanner to the check in/out options you need it for.

Click on any option in the list, and then choose the scanner from the Scanner dropdown within Check-In Options.

After that, scroll down until you see Sex Offender Check Options and click Sex Offender Auto-Check and Add Approved Visitors to Preloaded in order to enable our Sex Offender Check feature. Then click Save at the bottom of the page

From here, you'll need to repeat this process for any of the other check in/out options you would like this scanner to be used with.
