iDPRT Printer Set-Up

Setting up the printers:

1. Install the iDPRT driver from this site: https://www.idprt.com/downloads/
   1. From the ‘ALL PRODUCTS’ dropdown, select SP310. 
   2. Download the first option (iDPRT type) for Windows. 
   3. Install the driver (connect a printer when prompted.) 
   4. Follow the prompts until installation is complete.
2. Make sure both printers are connected via power outlet + USB and are receiving power. (A light will be present on the front of the printers to indicate that they are powered on.)
3. Load the printers with paper:
   1. Pull the two gray nobs on either side of the printer towards you to release the lid.
   2. Open the lid and release the gray paper roll shaft in the back. (releases from the right side).
   3. Load paper roll (labels facing up) on the shaft and secure it back down. Adjust the movable paper guides to secure the paper and finally shut the lid.
4. Install the Utility tool. https://www.idprt.com/downloads/
   1. From the ‘ALL TYPE’ dropdown, select ‘Utility.’
   2. From the list, download ‘Windows utility for SP310’, V1.0.0.6.
5. Configure the Utility tool
   1. Before opening the Utility tool, power off the Visitor printer. Leave ONLY the Tardy printer powered on.
   2. To open the tool, open the folder and double-click the ‘iDPRT Label Printer Utility Tool’ application (exe) file as pictured below:
   3. Click ‘Add printer’ and choose SP310.
   4. Take a look at the ‘Printer List:’ window pane. Notice that there are now two items. Delete the printer from this list that is not SP310 by selecting it and clicking ‘Delete Printer.’ This should leave just the ‘SP310’ that you added in the list.
   5. Next, click ‘Parameter settings’
      1. Set judge mode to ‘Receipt’.
      2. Set protocol to ESC.
      3. Click ‘Set’.
   6. Close the Utility tool by clicking ‘Quit’.
6. Following configuration, observe that both printers are now powered off. This is because after configuring Parameter settings within the Utility tool, the Tardy printer will automatically be powered off.
7. Turn both printers back on. Observe that the Tardy printer now has a yellow light while the Visitor printer has a blue light. This will be a useful distinction for tech troubleshooting.
8. To set up the printers in the client:
   1. Install and configure the Client Agent:
      1. Go to Settings > Client Agent > Set up
      2. Click ‘New’
      3. Click ‘Windows’
      4. Click ‘Download’
      5. Run clientagent_latest.msi executable once it’s finished downloading.
      6. Once installation is complete, click ‘Continue’ and complete the rest of the prompts.
      7. Go to Settings > Devices > Add new device
      8. Click ‘Generic Printer’.
      9. For Visitor printing:
         1. Paper type: IAK Label Long
         2. Print protocol: Default
      10. Create a second instance of the Generic Printer for Tardy printing:
          1. Paper type: Thermal Paper
          2. Print protocol: ESC/POS protocol

**IMPORTANT** 

The Visitor printer must be OFF while the Utility tool is open and being configured. If both printers are on during this process, the Utility tool will throw a ‘port error’ error when you attempt to set parameter settings. 

Utility tool errors: 

– ‘Port error’ error – Caused either by: A) both printers being powered on while Utility tool is being configured, or B) Neither printer is plugged in / powered on. To fix this, turn off the Visitor printer before opening the Utility tool. Make sure that the Tardy printer is powered on and USB connected to the PC. 

– ‘Data read’ error – Caused by incorrect Utility tool configuration. Make sure that you only set up one printer instance within the Utility tool and delete all others. To fix this, reset to factory defaults (using the Utility tool), shut off printers. Close and reopen Utility tool and only power on the Tardy printer.

Important note: 

If you ever need to transfer the printers for use on a different computer, you must first reset the printer to factory defaults using the Utility Tool. 

Example scenario: A customer has the printers configured and running on pc1 but they want to transfer the printers to pc2. 

Steps: 

1. In order for the Tardy printer to work on pc2, the Tardy printer must first be reset to factory defaults using the Utility tool. Otherwise, it may not be detected on pc2. 2. Turn off the Visitor printer (only need to reset the Tardy printer to factory defaults). 
2. Open the Utility tool and click ‘Restore Factory Settings’, this will cause the Tardy printer to power off. 
3. You must then reconfigure the Tardy printer on pc2 using the Utility tool.
